Scale Overview
The Worksite Walkability Audit Tool was developed by Dannenberg, A.L., Cramer, T.W., & Gibson, C.J. (2005). It is designed to measure Workplace Walkability. The scale is intended for use with Employees and workplace auditors.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 9 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: High Importance, Medium Importance, Low Importance.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Poor / High Risk / Low Quality, 2 = Below Average, 3 = Average, 4 = Above Average, 5 = Excellent / Low Risk / High Quality.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 100. Interpretation guidelines:
- High-risk and unattractive walking environment: 0 – 39
- Medium-risk and average or non-descript walking environment: 40 – 69
- Low-risk and pleasant walking environment: 70 – 100
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
