Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: Frequency: 1 = Never, Frequency: 5 = Very often, Control Loss: 1 = Very little, Control Loss: 5 = Very much.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 17 to 425. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low control problems: 17 – 140
- Moderate control problems: 141 – 280
- High control problems: 281 – 425
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha = .87 (composite).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
