Scale Overview
The Work-Specific Control Problems – WSCP was developed by Remondet, J. H., & Hansson, R. O. (1991). It is designed to measure Work-related control problems. The scale is intended for use with Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 17 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Workload Demands, Limited Growth Opportunity, Personal/Family Crises, Working Conditions.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = 1 (Never / Very little), 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5 (Very often / Very much).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 17 to 425. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Control Problems: 17 – 150
- Moderate Control Problems: 151 – 300
- High Control Problems: 301 – 425
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha of .87 for the composite measure.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
