Scale Overview
The Work-Family Conflict Scale – WFC was developed by Kopelman, Greenhaus, & Connolly (1983). It is designed to measure Work-Family Conflict. The scale is intended for use with Employed adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 8 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Work-Family Conflict: 8 – 18
- Moderate Work-Family Conflict: 19 – 29
- High Work-Family Conflict: 30 – 40
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of .78 to .90.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
