Scale Overview
The Wesley Rigidity Scale – WRS was developed by Elizabeth Wesley (1953). It is designed to measure Personality Rigidity. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 41 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous True/False format.
The scale includes 7 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 41. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Rigidity: 0 – 14
- Moderate Rigidity: 15 – 27
- High Rigidity: 28 – 41
