The Weighted Topics Measure of Family Sexual Communication – WTM was developed by Terri D. Fisher (1986). It is designed to measure Family sexual communication. The scale is intended for use with Parents and adolescents.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = None, 1 = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = A Lot.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 36. Interpretation guidelines:
- Total Score (higher scores indicate greater amounts of communication): 0 – 36
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.87 – 0.91.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
