Scale Overview
The Trauma Coping Self-Efficacy Scale – CSE-T was developed by Benight, C. C., Harding-Taylor, A. S., Midboe, A. M., & Durham, R. L. (2004). It is designed to measure Coping Self-Efficacy. The scale is intended for use with Trauma survivors.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Not Capable, 1 = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5, 6 = 6, 7 = Totally Capable.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 140. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Coping Self-Efficacy: 0 – 46
- Moderate Coping Self-Efficacy: 47 – 93
- High Coping Self-Efficacy: 94 – 140
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
