Scale Overview
The Token Resistance to Sex Scale – TRSS was developed by Suzanne L. Osman (1995). It is designed to measure Belief in token resistance to sex. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Slightly Disagree, 4 = Undecided, Neither Agree nor Disagree, 5 = Slightly Agree, 6 = Agree, 7 = Strongly Agree.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 8 to 56. Interpretation guidelines:
- Total Score (Higher scores indicate stronger belief in token resistance): 8 – 56
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.83 – 0.87.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
