Scale Overview
The The Hope Scale – HS was developed by C. R. Snyder (1991). It is designed to measure Hope. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = definitely false, 2 = mostly false, 3 = mostly true, 4 = definitely true.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 8 to 32. Interpretation guidelines:
- Below Average Hope: 8 – 24
- Average to High Hope: 25 – 32
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
