Scale Overview
The The Forms of Self-Criticising/Attacking & Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS) was developed by Gilbert, Clark, Hempel, Miles & Irons (2004). It is designed to measure Self-criticism and self-reassurance. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 22 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Inadequate Self, Reassure Self, Hated Self.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Not at all like me, 1 = A little bit like me, 2 = Moderately like me, 3 = Quite a bit like me, 4 = Extremely like me.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha: 0.90 (Inadequate Self), 0.86 (Hated Self), 0.86 (Reassure Self).
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
