Scale Overview
The The Aggression Scale – AS was developed by Pamela Orpinas, Ralph Frankowski (2001). It is designed to measure Aggressive Behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Physical Aggression, Verbal Aggression, Indirect Aggression, Anger.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = 0 times, 1 = 1 time, 2 = 2 times, 3 = 3 times, 4 = 4 times, 5 = 5 times, 6 = 6 or more times.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 0. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Aggression: 0 – 0
- Moderate Aggression: 12 – 0
- High Aggression: 34 – 0
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
