The Temperament in Middle Childhood Questionnaire – Self-Report (TMCQ) was developed by Simonds, R. R., & Rothbart, M. K. (2004). It is designed to measure Temperament. The scale is intended for use with Children (ages 7-10).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 141 items organized into 17 factors/subscales: Activation Control, Activity Level, Affiliation, Anger/Frustration, Assertiveness/Dominance, Attention, Discomfort, Fantasy/Openness, Fear, High Intensity Pleasure, Impulsivity, Inhibitory Control, Low Intensity Pleasure, Perceptual Sensitivity, Sadness, Shyness, Soothability.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 19 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
