Scale Overview
The Teacher’s Perceptions of General Invitations for Involvement from the School was developed by Kathleen V. Hoover-Dempsey, O. C. Bassler, J. S. Brissie, Howard M. Sandler, Joan M. Walker (1992). It is designed to measure Teacher perceptions of school invitations for parent involvement. The scale is intended for use with Teachers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Disagree very strongly, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Disagree just a little, 4 = Agree just a little, 5 = Agree, 6 = Agree very strongly.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 6. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Perceived Invitations: 1 – 2
- Moderate Perceived Invitations: 2 – 4
- High Perceived Invitations: 4 – 6
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
