Scale Overview
The Teacher Beliefs about Parent Involvement Scale was developed by Epstein, J.L., Salinas, K.C., & Horsey, C.S. (1994). It is designed to measure Teacher beliefs about parent involvement. The scale is intended for use with Teachers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Disagree very strongly, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Disagree just a little, 4 = Agree just a little, 5 = Agree, 6 = Agree very strongly.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 6. Interpretation guidelines:
- Weak Beliefs in Parent Involvement: 1 – 2
- Moderate Beliefs in Parent Involvement: 2 – 4
- Strong Beliefs in Parent Involvement: 4 – 6
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
