Scale Overview
The Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire – TEOSQ was developed by White, S. A., & Duda, J. L. (1994). It is designed to measure Goal Orientation in Sport. The scale is intended for use with Athletes and sport participants.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 5. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Orientation (Subscale Mean): 1 – 2
- Moderate Orientation (Subscale Mean): 3 – 3
- High Orientation (Subscale Mean): 4 – 5
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Task orientation alpha: ~0.79-0.84, Ego orientation alpha: ~0.80-0.89.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
