Scale Overview
The Stress Inventory – Symptom Checklist (SI-SC) was developed by J. Eugene Knott and George Kriebe (2003). It is designed to measure Stress and Anxiety Symptoms. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Somatic Symptoms, Anxiety and Avoidance, Emotional Distress, Interpersonal Sensitivity, General Activity.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 8. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Stress Symptoms: 0 – 2
- Moderate Stress Symptoms: 3 – 5
- High Stress Symptoms: 6 – 8
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
