Scale Overview
The Stalking Behavior Checklist (SBC) was developed by F. L. Coleman (1997). It is designed to measure Stalking Victimization. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 25 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Violent Behavior, Harassing Behavior.
| Factor / Subscale |
Items |
N |
| Violent Behavior |

| Harassing Behavior |

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Never, 2 = Once a month or less, 3 = Two to three times a month, 4 = Once or twice a week, 5 = Three to six times a week, 6 = Once a day or more.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 25 to 150. Interpretation guidelines:
- No Stalking Victimization Reported: 25 – 25
- Low Frequency Stalking Victimization: 26 – 75
- Moderate Frequency Stalking Victimization: 76 – 125
- High Frequency Stalking Victimization: 126 – 150
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Not specified in source text.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
