Scale Overview
The Spiritual and Religious Concerns Questionnaire – SRQ was developed by Tomas J. Silber & M. Reilly (1985). It is designed to measure Spiritual and religious concerns. The scale is intended for use with Hospitalized adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = 1 (Low concern / Negative / Never), 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 4, 5 = 5 (Average / No change / Sometimes), 6 = 6, 7 = 7, 8 = 8, 9 = 9 (High concern / Positive / Often).
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 9. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low spiritual and/or religious concern: 1 – 3
- Moderate spiritual and/or religious concern: 4 – 6
- High spiritual and/or religious concern: 7 – 9
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
