Scale Overview
The Sociocultural Attitudes Towards Appearance Questionnaire-3 (SATAQ-3) was developed by J. Kevin Thompson, Patricia van den Berg, Megan Roehrig, Angela S. Guarda, & Leslie J. Heinberg (2003). It is designed to measure Sociocultural attitudes towards appearance. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 30 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Internalization-General, Internalization-Athlete, Pressures, Information.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Definitely Disagree, 2 = Mostly Disagree, 3 = Neither Agree Nor Disagree, 4 = Mostly Agree, 5 = Definitely Agree.
The scale includes 8 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
