Scale Overview
The Sociality Inventory was developed by David S. Brody (1950). It is designed to measure Sociality and activity participation. The scale is intended for use with College students.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 19 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Participation in individual and informal group activities, Participation in home duties, Participation in formally organized group activities.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = None or little (Parts I & II) / No participation (Part III), 1 = Some (Parts I & II) / Member in name only (Part III), 2 = Much or very much (Parts I & II) / Participating member (Part III), 3 = Officer or committee chairman (Part III only).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 47. Interpretation guidelines:
- Total Score Range (Higher scores indicate greater sociality and participation): 0 – 47
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
