Scale Overview
The Social Stressors at Work Questionnaire was developed by Dieter Zapf, Michael Frese, Norbert Semmer, Sabine Mohr (1983). It is designed to measure Social stressors at work. The scale is intended for use with Working adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 17 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Form A, Form B, Short Form K.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Does not apply, 2 = Applies slightly, 3 = Applies to a large extent, 4 = Applies completely.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 17 to 68. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Social Stress: 17 – 34
- Moderate Social Stress: 35 – 51
- High Social Stress: 52 – 68
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's Alpha = .79 to .86.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
