Scale Overview
The Social Responsibility Scale – SRS was developed by Leonard Berkowitz and Kenneth G. Lutterman (1968). It is designed to measure Social Responsibility. The scale is intended for use with General population.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 8 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 5 = Strongly agree, 4 = Agree, 3 = Undecided, 2 = Disagree, 1 = Strongly disagree.
The scale includes 4 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 8 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Social Responsibility: 8 – 18
- Moderate Social Responsibility: 19 – 29
- High Social Responsibility: 30 – 40
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
