Scale Overview
The Situational Goal Orientation Measure – SGOM was developed by Klimoski, R., & Boyle, P. (1995). It is designed to measure Situational Goal Orientation. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

This instrument consists of 9 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Learning goal orientation, Performance goal orientation.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 9 to 45. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Goal Orientation: 9 – 22
- Moderate Goal Orientation: 23 – 35
- High Goal Orientation: 36 – 45
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
