Scale Overview
The Sexual Scripts Overlap Scale—Short Version (SSOS-S) was developed by Aleksandar Štulhofer and Ivan Landripet (2010). It is designed to measure Sexual socialization and pornography influence. The scale is intended for use with Young adults (ages 18–25).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 40 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Sexual Intimacy, Sexual Performance.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all, 2 = Somewhat, 3 = Moderately, 4 = A Great Deal, 5 = Exceptionally.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 80. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Overlap (Low influence of pornography on sexual socialization): 0 – 40
- Moderate Overlap (Moderate influence of pornography on sexual socialization): 41 – 60
- High Overlap (High influence of pornography on sexual socialization): 61 – 80
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha = 0.88.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 8 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
