Scale Overview
The Sexual History Form – Sexual Frequency and Desire Subscale (SHF-SFD) was developed by Laura Creti, Catherine S. Fichten, Rhonda Amsel, William Brender, Leslie R. Schover, Dennis Kalogeropoulos, Eva Libman (1998). It is designed to measure Sexual frequency and desire. The scale is intended for use with Adults.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = More than once a day, 2 = Once a day, 3 = 3 or 4 times a week, 4 = Twice a week, 5 = Once a week, 6 = Once every two weeks, 7 = Once a month, 8 = Less than once a month, 9 = Not at all.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 4 to 36. Interpretation guidelines:
- High Frequency and Desire: 4 – 12
- Moderate Frequency and Desire: 13 – 24
- Low Frequency and Desire: 25 – 36
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Temporal stability for the GSF ranged from .92 to .98; internal consistency ranged from .50 to .70..
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
