Scale Overview
The Sexual Consent Scale, Revised (SCS-R) was developed by Terry P. Humphreys, Melanie Brousseau, Ed Herold (2009). It is designed to measure Sexual consent attitudes and behaviors. The scale is intended for use with Heterosexual undergraduate students / Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 40 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Positive Attitude Towards Establishing Consent, (Lack of) Perceived Behavioral Control, Relationship Length Norms, (Pro) Assuming Consent, Indirect Behavioral Approach, Awareness of Consent.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 7-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 7 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 3 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Overall alpha = .89; subscales range from .68 to .85.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
