Scale Overview
The Sexual Compulsivity Scale – SCS was developed by Seth C. Kalichman, V. Adair, David Rompa, K. Multhauf, J. Johnson, J.A. Kelly (1994). It is designed to measure Sexual Compulsivity. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 10 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all like me, 2 = Slightly like me, 3 = Mainly like me, 4 = Very much like me.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 10 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Sexual Compulsivity: 10 – 20
- Moderate Sexual Compulsivity: 21 – 30
- High Sexual Compulsivity: 31 – 40
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
