Scale Overview
The Self-Reported Delinquency Scale – Rochester Youth Development Study (SRD-RYDS) was developed by Terence P. Thornberry, Marvin D. Krohn, Alan J. Lizotte, Carolyn A. Smith, Kimberly Tobin (2003). It is designed to measure Delinquency and Antisocial Behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and young adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 36 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 36. Interpretation guidelines:
- No reported delinquency: 0 – 0
- Low level of delinquency: 1 – 5
- Moderate level of delinquency: 6 – 15
- High level of delinquency: 16 – 36
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
