Scale Overview
The Scale of Beliefs on the Role of the Father after a Divorce – ECRP-D was developed by Vega, I. & Smith-Castro, V. (2009). It is designed to measure Beliefs on the post-divorce paternal role. The scale is intended for use with Divorced or separated fathers.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 12 items organized into 2 factors/subscales: Affective Role, Economic Role.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 12 to 60. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low agreement with post-divorce fathering roles: 12 – 28
- Moderate agreement with post-divorce fathering roles: 29 – 44
- High agreement with post-divorce fathering roles: 45 – 60

Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
