Scale Overview
The Rokeach Value Survey – Instrumental Values (RVS) was developed by Milton Rokeach (1968). It is designed to measure Human Values. The scale is intended for use with General population (adults and adolescents).
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 19 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = I disbelieve it very much, 2 = I disbelieve it quite a lot, 3 = I disbelieve it slightly, 4 = I am indifferent to it, 5 = I believe it slightly, 6 = I believe it quite a lot, 7 = I believe it very much.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.70 – 0.72.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
