Scale Overview
The Robson Self Concept Questionnaire – SCQ was developed by John M. Robson (1989). It is designed to measure Self-esteem. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 30 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Completely Disagree, 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Slightly Disagree, 4 = Slightly Agree, 5 = Agree, 6 = Strongly Agree, 7 = Completely Agree.
The scale includes 16 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 210. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Self-Esteem (Clinical Range): 0 – 99
- Moderately Low Self-Esteem: 100 – 119
- Average / Normal Self-Esteem: 120 – 160
- High Self-Esteem: 161 – 210
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
