Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = 0 partners / Strongly disagree / Never, 2 = 1 partner / Disagree / Very seldom, 3 = 2 to 3 partners / Neutral / About once a month, 4 = 4 to 7 partners / Agree / About once a week, 5 = 8 or more partners / Strongly agree / Nearly every day.
The scale includes 1 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 9 to 45. Interpretation guidelines:
- Continuous scale (higher scores indicate a more unrestricted sociosexual orientation): 9 – 45
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
