The Revised Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale – RCMAS was developed by Cecil R. Reynolds & Bert O. Richmond (1978). It is designed to measure Anxiety. The scale is intended for use with Children and adolescents ages 6 to 19.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 37 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Physiological Anxiety, Worry/Oversensitivity, Social Concerns/Concentration, Lie Scale.

Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 28. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Anxiety: 0 – 9
- Moderate Anxiety: 10 – 18
- High Anxiety: 19 – 28

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High internal consistency.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
