Scale Overview
The Responsible Choices Scale – RCS was developed by Oman, R. F., Vesely, S. K., McLeroy, K. R., Harris-Wyatt, V., Aspy, C. B., Rodine, S., & Marshall, L. (2002). It is designed to measure Responsibility. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and youth.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 6 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all like you, 2 = A little like you, 3 = Mostly like you, 4 = Very much like you.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 6 to 24. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Responsibility: 6 – 12
- Moderate Responsibility: 13 – 18
- High Responsibility: 19 – 24
