The Religious Orientation Scale – Revised (ROS-R) was developed by Richard L. Gorsuch & Susan E. McPherson (1989). It is designed to measure Religious Orientation. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree).
The scale includes 4 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 8 to 40. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Intrinsic Orientation: 8 – 24
- High Intrinsic Orientation: 25 – 40
- Low Extrinsic Orientation: 6 – 18
- High Extrinsic Orientation: 19 – 30
