The Religious Maturity Scale – RMS was developed by Dudley, R. L., & Cruise, R. J. (1990). It is designed to measure Religious Maturity. The scale is intended for use with Adults and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 11 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Undecided, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly agree.
The scale includes 3 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 11 to 55. Interpretation guidelines:
- Total Score Range (Higher scores indicate greater religious maturity): 11 – 55
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.55 – 0.68.
Administration
