The Relationship Rating Form – RRF was developed by Keith E. Davis (1996). It is designed to measure Relationship characteristics, quality, and dynamics. The scale is intended for use with Adults in romantic relationships or friendships.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 68 items organized into 21 factors/subscales: Acceptance/Tolerance, Respect, Trust, Confiding, Understanding, Fascination, Exclusiveness, Sexual Intimacy, Giving the utmost, Championing, Assistance, Success, Enjoyment, Reciprocity, Esteem, Conflict, Ambivalence, Maintenance, Commitment, Coercion, Equality.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not at all, 2 = Very little, 3 = Slightly (or rarely), 4 = Somewhat (not often), 5 = A fair amount, 6 = Very much, 7 = A great deal, 8 = Strongly (almost always), 9 = Completely or extremely.
The scale includes 7 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 9. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low level of the characteristic: 1 – 3
- Moderate level of the characteristic: 4 – 6
- High level of the characteristic: 7 – 9
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
