The Reiss Extramarital Sexual Permissiveness Scale – RESPS was developed by Ira L. Reiss (1980). It is designed to measure Extramarital sexual permissiveness. The scale is intended for use with Adults.
Scale Structure

Response anchors: a = Definitely, b = Probably, c = Unlikely, d = Never.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 4. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Permissiveness: 0 – 0
- Moderate Permissiveness: 1 – 3
- High Permissiveness: 4 – 4

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of High Guttman reproducibility and scalability.
Administration
