Scale Overview
The Recording of Job-Related Self-Concepts of Prospective Teachers (ERBSE-L) was developed by Jan Retelsdorf, Bauer, Gebauer, Kauper, & Möller (2014). It is designed to measure Job-related self-concept in teacher education. The scale is intended for use with Prospective teachers / teacher candidates.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 20 items organized into 6 factors/subscales: Subject, Education, Diagnostics, Innovation, Media, Counselling.

Response anchors: 1 = Does not apply at all, 2 = Mostly does not apply, 3 = Mostly applies, 4 = Fully applies.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 1 to 4. Interpretation guidelines:
- Average score per subscale ranges from 1 (low self-concept) to 4 (high self-concept): 1 – 4
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's Alpha = .71 to .88.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
