The Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool – PEDT was developed by Symonds, T., Perelman, M. A., Althof, S., et al. (2007). It is designed to measure Premature Ejaculation. The scale is intended for use with Adult males.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 5 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Not difficult at all / Never or almost never / Not at all, 1 = Somewhat difficult / Less than half the time / Slightly, 2 = Moderately difficult / About half the time / Moderately, 3 = Very difficult / Over half the time / Very, 4 = Extremely difficult / Always or almost always / Extremely.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 20. Interpretation guidelines:
- No premature ejaculation: 0 – 8
- Probable premature ejaculation: 9 – 10
- Premature ejaculation: 11 – 20
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Cronbach's alpha > 0.80.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
