The Pica and Rumination Questionnaire – CuPRu was developed by Medina-Tepal, K. A., Vázquez-Arévalo, R., Calleja-Bello, N., & Mancilla-DÃaz, J. M. (2023). It is designed to measure Pica and Rumination Disorder symptoms. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and young adults.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 18 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Regurgitation, Gastrointestinal symptoms, Consumption of nonfood/raw or unprocessed substances, Pica symptoms.

Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 72. Interpretation guidelines:
- Minimal/No symptoms: 0 – 18
- Mild symptoms: 19 – 36
- Moderate symptoms: 37 – 54
- Severe symptoms: 55 – 72
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha = 0.85, Omega = 0.93.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
