Scale Overview
The Perceptions of Parents Scales – Child (POPS) was developed by Robbins, R. J. (1994). It is designed to measure Parental Autonomy Support and Involvement. The scale is intended for use with Children and adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 22 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Mother Involvement, Mother Autonomy Support, Father Involvement, Father Autonomy Support.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: a = Statement A, b = Statement B, c = Statement C, d = Statement D.
The scale includes 12 reverse-scored items to reduce acquiescence bias.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.

Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Typically ranges from 0.70 to 0.85 across subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
