Scale Overview
The Perception of Problem Behavior Scale – PPBS was developed by Rolf Loeber, David P. Farrington, Magda Stouthamer-Loeber, Welmoet B. Van Kammen (1998). It is designed to measure Willingness to engage in problem behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents and youth.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 18 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a dichotomous Yes/No format.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 18. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low willingness to engage in problem behavior: 0 – 6
- Moderate willingness to engage in problem behavior: 7 – 12
- High willingness to engage in problem behavior: 13 – 18
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
