Scale Overview
The Perceived Injustice Scale – PIS was developed by Hodson, R., Creighton, S., Jamison, C. S., Rieble, S., & Welsh, S. (1994). It is designed to measure Perceived Injustice. The scale is intended for use with Employees.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 4 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a 4-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 4 = Strongly Agree).
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 4 to 16. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low perceived injustice: 4 – 8
- Moderate perceived injustice: 9 – 12
- High perceived injustice: 13 – 16
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha = .70.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
