Scale Overview
The Pediatric Penile Perception Score – PPPS was developed by Verena Schönbucher, Markus A. Landolt, Rita Gobet, Daniel M. Weber (2008). It is designed to measure Penile self-perception. The scale is intended for use with Children and adolescents with hypospadias.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 4 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Very Dissatisfied, 1 = Dissatisfied, 2 = Satisfied, 3 = Very Satisfied.
Scoring
Items are summed to produce a total score.
Total scores range from 0 to 12. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Satisfaction: 0 – 5
- Moderate Satisfaction: 6 – 9
- High Satisfaction: 10 – 12
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.81.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
