Scale Overview
The Parenting Daily Hassles Scale – PDH was developed by Keith A. Crnic & Mark T. Greenberg (1990). It is designed to measure Parenting Daily Hassles. The scale is intended for use with Parents of young children.

This instrument consists of 20 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Challenging Behavior, Parenting Tasks, Intensity Items.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = Rarely, 2 = Sometimes, 3 = A lot, 4 = Constantly.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 80. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Parenting Hassles: 0 – 26
- Moderate Parenting Hassles: 27 – 53
- High Parenting Hassles: 54 – 80
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha coefficients typically range from .80 to .90 for the subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
