Scale Overview
The Parental Involvement in School Scale was developed by Multisite Violence Prevention Project (2004). It is designed to measure Parental Involvement in School. The scale is intended for use with Parents of school-aged children.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 18 items organized into 3 factors/subscales: Parent Involvement with Child’s Schoolwork, Parent Involvement with Teacher/School, Teacher Involvement with Parent.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never, 1 = Once a month / Hardly ever, 2 = Once a week / Sometimes, 3 = Several times a week / Often, 4 = Every day / Very often.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 4. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Involvement: 0 – 1
- Moderate Involvement: 1 – 3
- High Involvement: 3 – 4
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
