Scale Overview
The Parental Health Belief Scales (PHBS) was developed by Barbara J. Tinsley (2003). It is designed to measure Parental Health Locus of Control. The scale is intended for use with Parents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 30 items organized into 5 factors/subscales: Parental Control, Helplessness, Chance/Luck, External Influence, Supernatural/Divine.

Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Strongly agree, 2 = Agree, 3 = No opinion, 4 = Disagree, 5 = Strongly disagree.
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.

Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
