Scale Overview
The Parental Attitudes Toward Antisocial Behavior – Seattle Social Development Project was developed by Arthur M. W., Hawkins J. D., Pollard J. A., Catalano R. F., & Baglioni A. J. (2002). It is designed to measure Parental disapproval of antisocial behavior. The scale is intended for use with Adolescents.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 3 items.
Response Format
Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 1 = Not wrong at all, 2 = A little bit wrong, 3 = Wrong, 4 = Very wrong.
Scoring
Item scores are averaged to produce a mean score.
Total scores range from 1 to 4. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low parental disapproval (High risk): 1 – 2
- Moderate parental disapproval: 2 – 3
- High parental disapproval (Low risk): 3 – 4
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 2 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
