The Parent-Teacher Involvement Questionnaire – Parent Version (PTIQ-P) was developed by Miller-Johnson, S., Maumary-Gremaud, A., & Corrigan, A. (1995). It is designed to measure Parent-Teacher Involvement. The scale is intended for use with Parents of school-aged children.
Scale Structure
This instrument consists of 26 items organized into 4 factors/subscales: Frequency of Parent-Teacher Contact, Quality of the Relationship between Parent and Teacher, Parent’s Involvement and Volunteering at School, Parent’s Endorsement of Child’s School.

Respondents rate each item using a custom response format.
Response anchors: 0 = Never (Items 1-10) / Not at all (Items 11-22) / Strongly disagree (Items 23-26), 1 = Once or twice a year (Items 1-10) / A little (Items 11-22) / Disagree (Items 23-26), 2 = Almost every month (Items 1-10) / Some (Items 11-22) / Not sure (Items 23-26), 3 = Almost every week (Items 1-10) / A lot (Items 11-22) / Agree (Items 23-26), 4 = More than once per week (Items 1-10) / A great deal (Items 11-22) / Strongly agree (Items 23-26).
Scoring
Items are scored by subscale, with each subscale sum representing a distinct dimension.
Total scores range from 0 to 104. Interpretation guidelines:
- Low Involvement / Endorsement: 0 – 34
- Moderate Involvement / Endorsement: 35 – 69
- High Involvement / Endorsement: 70 – 104
Psychometric Properties
Internal Consistency: The scale has demonstrated good to excellent internal consistency with reported Cronbach’s alpha values of Alpha ranges from .66 to .91 across subscales.
Administration
The scale is self-administered and typically takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It can be administered individually or in group settings. No special training is required for administration.
